Seventy-six players have been named to the initial 2025 Watch List for the 20th Annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball, the association announced Wednesday. NCBWA introduces Tony Gwynn Community Service Trophy
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has established a new award honoring student-athletes who are active in service and volunteerism in their communities and will honor nine finalists as part of a Tony Gwynn Community 9 Team in May 2025. A winner selected from the nine finalists will be dubbed the Tony Gwynn Community Service Trophy honoree and announced during the Men’s College World Series in June.
Helton makes Howser Trophy history, named to National Baseball Hall of Fame
Todd Helton, the 1995 Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear recipient, has another feather in his already-extensive baseball cap. Helton was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame last week in Cooperstown, New York, as the first Howser Trophy winner and first Tennessee alumnus to be recognized with this high baseball honor.
Texas A&M's Aschenbeck wins 2024 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award
Texas A&M reliever Evan Aschenbeck has been announced as the 2024 Stopper of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced Friday. Aschenbeck is the fourth player from the Southeastern Conference to earn this prestigious honor, joining Georgia’s Joshua Fields (2008), Florida’s Michael Byrne (2018) and Arkansas’ Kevin Kopps (2021).

NCBWA announces 2024 Division I All-America Teams
The 2024 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s 24th All-America first, second and third teams announced Wednesday feature a plethora of the finest NCAA Division I standouts at the plate, afield and on the mound. There are 19 different conferences and 16 conference championship squads represented among the ’24 stars. The three All-America squads are also made up of 14 conference players or co-players of the year, nine conference pitchers of the year, two conference relief pitchers of the year, and one circuit defensive player of the year.
