DALLAS (NCBWA) – With NCAA transfers abounding and NCAA Division I talent levels at a possible all-time high, the 2025 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Preseason All-America teams (24th annual) prove the balance available throughout the nation as teams vie for one of the coveted eight places in the 78th NCAA World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 13-22/23.

Defending champion Tennessee and ’25 NCBWA preseason No. 1 Texas A&M (runnerup last June) bring back some of the leading standouts on the preseason dream team, along with several of their rival Southeastern and Atlantic Coast Conferences’ members.

Tennessee relief ace Nate Snead earned a spot on the first unit, while Virginia 2B Henry Godbout, Texas A&M’s OF Jace LaViolette and starting pitcher Ryan Prager joined the Volunteers’ standout on that topping squad.

Other notable names among the first team are fellow ’24 CWS participant North Carolina pitcher Matthew Matthijs, along with Texas SS Jalin Flores, Florida State starting pitcher Jamie Arnold and second team All-America designated hitter Cole Hage of Kentucky.

Dozens of others are vying for one of those treks to Omaha in June, and this includes a cavalcade of starting pitchers on the first team with a combined win-loss record of 46-8 for five teams that made the NCAA tourney field in 2024.

Among the first unit power hitters are DBU catcher Grant Jay (grandson of for MLB Cincinnati Reds pitching great Joey Jay), with 21 dingers and 57 RBI, 1B Tanner Thach, of UNCW, with 27 homers and 75 RBI, 1B Jared Jones, of LSU, with 14 doubles, 28 round trippers and 58 RBI, 3B Daniel Cuvet, of Miami (Fla.), with 24 home runs and 75 ribbies, OF Drew Burress, of Georgia Tech, with 25 HR and 67 RBI, LaViolette, with 29 homers and 78 RBI and Oklahoma State’s Nolan Schubart, with 23 home runs and 68 RBI.

Burress topped all first teamers with a .381 average, while top unit relief pitchers posted 27 total saves and had a composite win-loss mark of 33-9, while entering several games from mid-contest through the ninth inning. First team utility player Noah Sullivan of Mississippi State showed his versatility with an 8-1 pitching record, .324 batting average, 17 home runs and 57 RBI in 56 outings.

In all, there are 46 different schools and 16 NCAA Division I conferences represented on the 2025 All-America teams, which also have individuals honored from 23 teams ranked in various preseason polls.

Previous NCBWA postseason All-America teams from 1996-2024 have featured the likes of several Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear recipients: RHP Paul Skenes of LSU, 3B Kris Bryant of San Diego, P Stephen Strasburg of San Diego State, 1B Mark Teixeira of Georgia Tech, RHP Mark Prior of USC, SS-2B Rickie Weeks of Southern U., 3B Alex Gordon of Nebraska, P David Price of Vanderbilt, C Buster Posey of Florida State, catcher Mike Zunino of Florida, OF Andrew Benintendi of Arkansas, 1B-3B Charlie Condon of Georgia, and 1B-P Brendan McKay of Louisville, among others.
