DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has named its Dick Howser Trophy Players of the Month for March presented by The Game Headwear, tabbing Georgia infielder/outfielder Ryland Zaborowski its national hitter of the month and Florida State left-handed starter Joey Volini its national pitcher of the month.
Zaborowski, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound right-handed hitter out of Gilbert, Arizona, hit .467 (28-for-60) with 22 runs scored, four doubles, 12 homers and 33 RBI over the month. He added 15 walks, was hit by four pitches, and struck out 12 times, sporting a 1.133 slugging and a .595 on-base percentage. He led the Southeastern Conference in batting, slugging, on-base percentage, home runs, RBI and total bases during the month of March, as the Bulldogs rolled to a 29-2 record that features eight wins in nine conference tests. In 27 games in 2025, Zaborowski has hit .448 (39-for-87) with 28 runs, seven doubles, 14 homers and 48 RBI, owning a 21-17 walk-strikeout ratio.
A 6-4, 247-pound southpaw out of Tampa, Florida, who transferred to FSU from South Florida, Volini had a prolific month on the mound and was the unanimous selection for the NCBWA Pitcher of the Month honor. Over five starts, Volini went 5-0 with a 1.09 ERA, throwing two complete games and tossing 33 innings. He allowed only 18 hits – a .165 opponent average – with four earned runs, seven walks and a staggering 50 strikeouts. He was named ACC Pitcher of the Week on April 1 after his final outing of the month, which featured 11 strikeouts in seven two-run innings at Notre Dame. On the year, Volini has won all seven of his starts with a 1.25 ERA, hurling 43.1 innings, allowing just 26 hits with nine walks and 63 strikeouts.
This marks the 10th consecutive year that the NCBWA has honored a national hitter and national pitcher of the month. Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball.
