JOHN MANUEL SELECTED AS 2003 NCBWA WILBUR SNYPP AWARD WINNER
Because of his outstanding commitment to college baseball, John Manuel, one of the leading experts as a writer, radio commentator and television analyst, has been named as the winner of the 2003 National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Wilbur Snypp Award. He is the third recipient to be honored from Baseball America, following Jim Callis (2000) and Allen Simpson (1998).
NCBWA ANNOUNCES 2003 DIVISION I ALL-AMERICA TEAM
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced its 13th annual 2003 All-America Division I baseball teams on Tuesday. The three-unit squads definitely are the cream of the Division I crop and have solid representation among NCAA World Series teams. They also reflect some good prognostication by the baseball writers in their 2003 preseason All-America choices.
SOUTHERN'S RICKIE WEEKS NAMED 2003 VERIZON DICK HOWSER TROPHY WINNER
OMAHA, Neb. (NCBWA) – Rickie Weeks, the first standout from the Southwestern Athletic Conference to receive the honor and NCAA Division I batting champion for two consecutive seasons, has been named as winner of the 17th annual Dick Howser Trophy as 2003 college baseball player of the year.
