DICK CASE CHOSEN 2001 NCBWA WILBUR SNYPP AWARD WINNER

Dick Case, retired Executive Director of USA Baseball, has been named as winner of the 2001 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Wilbur Snypp Award.

Mark Prior, who dominated NCAA Division I pitching statistics and who led Southern California to the 2001 NCAA World Series, has been named as 15th recipient of the prestigious Dick Howser Trophy as college baseball player of the year.

NCBWA ANNOUNCES 2001 DIVISION I ALL-AMERICA TEAM

In a season in which there were many team "overcomers" in NCAA Division I baseball, the 13th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers All-America Team reflects a solid group of student-athletes, many of whom overachieved in taking their teams to new heights in 2001.

NCBWA TABS NINE DIVISION I DISTRICT PLAYERS OF THE YEAR

For the second year in succession and with one repeat performer, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has chosen its nine NCAA Division I District Baseball Players of the Year. Voting for the awards was done by the membership of the NCBWA, featuring writers, broadcasters and publicists of college baseball.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced its second annual NCAA Division III Regional Players of the Year on Monday:

NCBWA NAMES NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards for the period ending May 6th. Middle Tennessee State junior righthander Dewon Brazelton earned Pitcher of the Week honors, while Chris Burke of Tennessee and Aurelio Jackson of Sacramento State were named Co-Hitters of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

Kent State junior first baseman John VanBenschoten earned Hitter of the Week honors, while Todd Pennington of Southeast Missouri State received the Pitcher of the Week award.
