WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – The defending national champion Tampa Spartans remain the number one team in this week’s NCBWA top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon. Tampa received all 20 first-place votes, earning the top spot for the sixth straight week.
Angelo State and Central Missouri remain second and third, with Westmont moving up to number four and UT Tyler rounding out the top five, moving up two spots this week. Catawba jumps up five spots from #11 to number six, with Minnesota State, Grand Valley State, Florida Southern and Millersville rounding out the top 10.
Lewis, Young Harris and Pittsburg State each moved up two spots this week, with Lewis up to #13, Young Harris at #16 and Pittsburg State checking in at #17. West Chester jumps up three spots, entering the top 20 at #19.
Only two new teams in this week’s poll, with Point Loma returning to the poll at #23 and North Georgia rounding out this week’s poll at #25. The only two teams two drop out were ranked #24 and #25 last week in Cal State Monterey Bay and Spring Hill, both of whom are receiving votes this week.
The NCBWA Region polls will be announced every Monday throughout the season, while national polls will come out every Wednesday.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the Year, and publication and writing contests.
