WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – The defending national champion Tampa Spartans remain the number one team in this week’s NCBWA top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon. Tampa received 18 of the 20 first-place votes, earning the top spot for the fifth straight week.
Angelo State and Central Missouri switch spots, with Angelo State climbing to number two, while North Greenville and Westmont round out this week’s top five. Florida Southern, UT Tyler and Minnesota State remain six, seven and eight, while Grand Valley State moves up two spots to number nine. Millersville rounds out this week’s top 10.
Catawba jumps up six spots to number 11 this week, while Lewis is up three spots to number 15. Goldey-Beacom is up seven spots this week, checking in at #17. Young Harris and Pittsburg State are new to the poll this week at 18th and 19th respectively. Cal State Monterey Bay and Spring Hill are the other two newcomers this week, checking in at #24 and #25.
The NCBWA Region polls will be announced every Monday throughout the season, while national polls will come out every Wednesday.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the Year, and publication and writing contests.
