WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – The defending national champion Tampa Spartans remain the number one team in this week’s NCBWA top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon. Tampa received 13 of the 20 first-place votes, earning the top spot for the third straight week after being the unanimous number one team last week.
Central Missouri remains #2, collecting four first-place votes, while Angelo State moves up four spots, checking in at #3 while receiving the other three first-place votes. Westmont and UT Tyler round out this week’s top five.
Florida Southern jumps up seven spots to #6, while Carson-Newman is up nine spots to check in at #7 this week. Minnesota State is eighth, with Davenport moving up five spots to number nine and West Chester climbing nine spots to round out the top 10.
There are four new teams in this week’s poll, led by Young Harris at #19 and East Stroudsburg at #20. Fort Hays State is 22nd, with Golden-Beacom joining the rankings at #25.
The NCBWA Region polls will be announced every Monday throughout the season, while national polls will come out every Wednesday.
