DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the 2025 season and the week ending on February 23, 2025. Colorado School of Mines freshman infielder Jackson Babcock, is the National Hitter of the Week and Harding (Ark.) fifth-year pitcher Maddox Long is the National Pitcher of the Week.
Babcock (League City, Texas / Clear Creek HS) hit for the cycle, with a grand slam, and reached base in all six plate appearances against Adams State on Friday. He finished that game 5-for-5 with a double, triple, two home runs, and six RBI. For the week, he collected eight hits, seven going for extra bases (3 2B, 3B, 3 HR) and walked three times, with only one strikeout in 17 plate appearances. Friday's plate appearances opened with a home run in the first inning before adding a triple, a walk, a grand slam, a single, and a double to complete the cycle in just eight innings.
Long (Morrilton, Ark. / UA-Rich Mountain) repeated as Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week after he recorded his second-straight 10-strikeout performance. In a 7-2 win against Southwestern Oklahoma State, he fanned 10 across 6.0 scoreless innings. He surrendered just one hit and one walk. He did not allow a runner past first base. He improved to 4-0 and lowered his ERA to 1.08.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
