DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released the 2018 NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week ending on April 16. Indiana University (Pa.) senior infielder Ted DeSanti is the National Hitter of the Week, while LeMoyne freshman pitcher Ryan Murphy is the National Pitcher of the Week.

DeSanti, a native of Erie, Pa., hit .714 (10-for-14) with .733 on-base percentage and 1.643 slugging percentage in 4-0 sweep vs Clarion. He recorded a double, four home runs, a walk, 12 RBI and scored eight runs. DeSanti led an offense that scored 44 runs, while he had 5 of 10 hits for extra bases and had two home in game two's comeback win, including game-tying 2-run home run in 7th. He raised his season average 78 points from .295 to .373. DeSanti is the first IUP player since All-America Ryan Uhl in 2015 with four home runs in series. His four round-trippers this weekend equal total from freshman, sophomore and junior seasons.

Murphy, a native of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., tossed LeMoyne's eighth individual no-hitter in program history on Sunday in a 3-0, seven-inning win over number-seven ranked New Haven on the Chargers' home field. He is the first Dolphin freshman to toss a no-hitter school history, as he struck out 10 batters in those seven innings and face only two hitters above the minimum.
