NCBWA NAMES PRO-LINE ATHLETICNATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 5.

Eastern Illinois senior outfielder Brett Nommensen was named National Hitter of the Week, while Michigan State senior right-handed pitcher Nolan Moody was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

Pro-Line Athletic: The Choice of Champions.Nommensen hit .769 (10-of-13) with seven runs scored, two doubles, three home runs and nine RBI in four Eastern Illinois wins last week. The Fox Grove, Ill., native reached base safely in 14 of his 17 plate appearances during the week, including in each of his first 13 at-bats. Nommensen homered twice in a 12-8 road win over Saint Louis, including leading off the game with a home run for the fourth time this season. He hit a two-run home run in game one against Murray State and knocked in the first run in the second game of that doubleheader (a 2-1 EIU victory).

Moody opened Michigan State's McLane Baseball Stadium in exciting fashion on Saturday, throwing a no-hitter to defeat Northwestern, 2-0, in game one of a doubleheader. The East Lansing, Mich., native struck out five and allowed only two walks in the contest and was perfect through 7.2 innings of work. The no-hitter is the first in a Big Ten Conference game since 2006 and the first no-no for the Spartans since 1993.

Fort Worth-based Pro-Line Athletic supplies the official cap to more than 100 Division I college teams and official uniforms and team wear to six Division I college teams.
