USBWA unveils 2024-25 Women's All-America Team

Many familiar faces are featured on the 2024-25 U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Women's All-America Team, with 11 of 15 players on the three teams having earned previous All-America honors from the USBWA.

Texas' McConnell to receive 2025 Katha Quinn Award

Scott McConnell, the Assistant Athletic Director/Communications at the University of Texas who has represented men’s basketball teams there for nearly 27 years, has been named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association’s Katha Quinn Award winner for 2025. McConnell will receive the award on April 7 in San Antonio at a luncheon before the national championship game.

UConn's Fudd headlines USBWA's women's weekly honors

For the period through Sunday, Feb. 16, the five Ann Meyers Drysdale national women’s honorees of the week are Drake guard Katie Dinnebier; Connecticut guard Azzi Fudd; North Carolina guard Reniya Kelly; Harvard guard Harmoni Turner; and USC guard JuJu Watkins. The Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week is Vanderbilt guard Mikayla Blakes and and the National Team of the Week is Texas.

For the period through Sunday, Feb. 9, the five Ann Meyers Drysdale national women’s honorees of the week are Oklahoma State guard Anna Gret Asi; Fairfield roadrunner Raiana Brown; USC forward Kiki Iriafen; NC State guard Aziaha James; Saint Joseph’s forward Laura Ziegler. The Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week is Duke forward Toby Fournier and and the National Team of the Week is Texas.

For the period through Sunday, Jan. 26, the five Ann Meyers Drysdale national women's honorees of the week are Drexel guard Amaris Baker; UCLA center Lauren Betts; Florida State guard Ta'Niya Latson; Bucknell forward Ashley Sofilkanich; Murray State forward Katelyn Young; the Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week is Vanderbilt guard Makayla Blakes and the National Team of the Week is Texas.

For the period through Sunday, Jan. 5, the five Ann Meyers Drysdale national women’s honorees of the week are Kentucky guard Georgia Amoore; UCLA center Lauren Betts; Drake guard Katie Dinnebier; Florida State guard Ta’Niya Latson; and Seton Hall forward Faith Masonius. The Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week is Texas guard Jordan Lee, and the National Team of the Week is Clemson.

For the period through Sunday, Dec. 1, the five Ann Meyers Drysdale national women’s honorees of the week are Florida State guard Ta’Niya Latson, LSU forward Aneesah Morrow, TCU guard Hailey Van and center Sedona Prince, and Kentucky center Clara Strack. The Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week is Texas forward Justice Carlton and the National Team of the Week is Duke.

USBWA unveils 2023-24 Men's All-America Team

Last season’s Oscar Robertson Trophy winner and the nation's leading scorer, three repeat selections, a pair of North Carolina teammates and four SEC stars headline the 2023-24 U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Men's All-America Team. The 15-man team includes a player from each of the NCAA Tournament’s four No. 1 seeds and six players who were their conference players of the year.

USBWA Unveils 2023-24 Women's All-America Team

A pair of Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Year headline the 2023-24 USBWA Women's All-America Team. Iowa's Caitlin Clark, now a four-time All-American, and UConn's Paige Bueckers, earning her second honor, join LSU's three-time selection Angel Reese to bolster a power-packed six-woman first team. In all, 16 players were honored among three teams, in addition to five honorable mention selections.

The Tamika Catchings freshman award goes to Texas forward Madison Booker and the National Team of the Week is Mississippi State.

For the season’s sixth weekly women’s awards from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, for games ending Sunday, Jan. 15, Texas guard Shaylee Gonzales is the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week, Indiana guard Yarden Garzon is the Tamika Catchings freshman recipient and USC is the team of the week.

JONES, HARDY TO RECEIVE PERRY WALLACE MOST COURAGEOUS AWARD

Two exemplary men's college basketball players will share the 2022 Perry Wallace Most Courageous Award. Texas guard Andrew Jones, who has displayed courage since his leukemia diagnosis in 2018, and Washington (Mo.) University forward Justin Hardy, who has been his team's second-leading scorer while battling stomach cancer, have both demonstrated extraordinary courage reflecting honor on amateur basketball.

For the season's fourth weekly honorees for games ending Sunday, Dec. 26, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Ann Meyers Drysdale Women's National Player of the Week goes to South Carolina senior guard Destanni Henderson, the organization's Tamika Catchings Women's Freshman Player honor goes to Texas guard Rori Harmon and the USBWA women’s national team of the week citation goes to South Carolina for performances in the voting period.
