The Southeastern Conference boasts four standout players to headline the 2024-25 U.S. Basketball Writers Association Men's All-America Team, including three first-team selections. All four NCAA Tournament No. 1 seeds are represented on the team, which includes three repeat selections among the 17 players honored on three teams, with two players receiving honorable mention.

USC's Watkins headlines USBWA's women's weekly honors

For the period through Sunday, Dec. 8, the five Ann Meyers Drysdale national women’s honorees of the week are Notre Dame guard Sonia Citron, Temple guard Tiarra East, Colorado State forward Emma Ronsiek, USC guard JuJu Watkins, and LSU guard Mikaylah Williams. The Tamika Catchings Freshman of the Week is Penn guard Sarah Miller, and for the first time there are two National Teams of the Week, both out of the Southeastern Conference in defending NCAA champion South Carolina and the program returning to prominence in Tennessee.

Harvard's Turner headlines Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Week

For the period through Sunday, Nov. 17, the five Ann Meyers Drysdale national women’s honorees of the week are Connecticut guard Paige Bueckers, Miami guard Haley Cavinder, Tennessee guard Talaysia Cooper, UTSA forward Jordyn Jenkins, and Harvard guard Harmoni Turner. The Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week is Notre Dame forward Kate Koval and TCU is the National Team of the Week.

Last season’s Oscar Robertson Trophy winner and the nation's leading scorer, three repeat selections, a pair of North Carolina teammates and four SEC stars headline the 2023-24 U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Men's All-America Team. The 15-man team includes a player from each of the NCAA Tournament’s four No. 1 seeds and six players who were their conference players of the year.

A pair of Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Year headline the 2023-24 USBWA Women's All-America Team. Iowa's Caitlin Clark, now a four-time All-American, and UConn's Paige Bueckers, earning her second honor, join LSU's three-time selection Angel Reese to bolster a power-packed six-woman first team. In all, 16 players were honored among three teams, in addition to five honorable mention selections.

For their performances in the period through Sunday, Jan. 7, this week’s five Ann Meyers Drysdale national honorees are Texas forward Madison Booker, UT Arlington forward Avery Brittingham, Iowa guard Caitlin Clark, Tennessee forward Rickea Jackson and Virginia guard Elizabeth Kitley.

USBWA unveils 2022-23 women's All-America Team

Eight returning All-Americans including the nation’s leading scorer and assists leaders and six conference players of the year headline the 2022-23 U.S. Basketball Writers Association Women's All-America Team. There are 13 different schools represented on the 15-player team that for the second consecutive season has top-ranked and overall No. 1 NCAA Tournament seed South Carolina and Stanford each earning claiming two selections.

Jennings selected to receive 2022 Mary Jo Haverbeck Award

Debby Jennings, a former longtime sports information director at Tennessee, has been named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's winner of the 2022 Mary Jo Haverbeck Award.

USBWA NAMES WOMEN'S FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR TAMIKA CATCHINGS

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has named its annual recognition of its women's national freshman of the year the Tamika Catchings Award. Catchings, vice president of basketball operations for the Indiana Fever of the WNBA, was the consensus national freshman of the year during the 1997-98 season, when she averaged 18.2 points per game to lead the Tennessee Lady Volunteers to a national championship in a 39-0 season.

USBWA NAMES 2019-20 WOMEN'S ALL-AMERICA TEAM

Three Oregon Ducks highlight the 2019-20 U.S. Basketball Writers Association Women's All-America Team. Pac-12 Player of the Year Sabrina Ionescu is joined by teammates Ruthy Hebard on the first team and Satou Sebally as a second-team selection. Ionescu, a three-time USBWA All-American, is the lone repeat first-team selection.

For the season's 16th and final U.S. Basketball Writers Association Ann Meyers Drysdale Women's National Player of the Week and the organization's Tamika Catchings women's freshman player honor for this season, Tennessee guard-forward Rennia Davis is national player while Notre Dame forward Sam Brunelle has been chosen for the freshman citation after each helped their teams go unbeaten ending the week of Sunday, March 1.

USBWA ANNOUNCES 2010-11 WOMEN'S HONORS

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has chosen the recipients of its 2010-11 women's postseason honors. Connecticut's Maya Moore is the National Player of the Year, while Baylor's Kim Mulkey is the National Coach of the Year and Baylor's Odyssey Sims is the National Freshman of the Year. All three selections will be honored at the USBWA Women's Awards Breakfast on Tues., April 5 in Indianapolis.

USBWA ANNOUNCES 2008-09 WOMEN'S HONORS

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has chosen the recipients of its 2008-09 women's postseason honors. For the third time, Connecticut has swept the association's player and coach the year awards. Sophomore Maya Moore, the 2008 USBWA Freshman of the Year, is the 2009 USBWA National Player of the Year, while coach Geno Auriemma has captured USBWA National Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season and fourth time overall. Eight other times, the player and coach of the year have come from the same school.
