USBWA PRESENTS 2016-17 WOMEN'S HONORS

Two recipients from Pac-12 schools and a multi-repeat winner highlighted the annual U.S. Basketball Writers Association women's awards news conference Friday at the American Airlines Center preceeding the NCAA national semifinals in the arena. Washington's Kelsey Plum took the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award as the national player of the year, Connecticut's Geno Auriemma took the National Coach of the Year Award for a sixth time, and Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu took the National Freshman of the Year honor.

KANSAS' MASON III WINS 2016-17 OSCAR ROBERTSON TROPHY

Kansas senior guard Frank Mason III has been named the winner of the Oscar Robertson Trophy as the national player of the year in voting by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

GONZAGA'S FEW WINS 2016-17 HENRY IBA COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD

Mark Few, who guided Gonzaga to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, has been named winner of the Henry Iba Award, given annually by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association to the national coach of the year. The announcement came today as the Zags prepared for their first-round NCAA Tournament game against South Dakota State.

USBWA NAMES 2016-17 MEN'S ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has released its 2016-17 Men's All-District Teams, based on voting from its national membership of 900-plus. The USBWA has selected All-District Teams since the 1956-57 season, its founding year.

TOM IZZO NAMED RECIPIENT OF 2016 DEAN SMITH AWARD

Tom Izzo, who recently was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, is adding another award to a growing list of honors as the Michigan State coach.
