Connecticut senior standout Breanna Stewart made United States Basketball Writers Association history Sunday afternoon, becoming the first women's star to win three Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Year honors, named for UCLA Hall of Famer.
OKLAHOMA'S HIELD WINS 2015-16 OSCAR ROBERTSON TROPHY
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected Oklahoma senior guard Buddy Hield as the winner of the 2015-16 Oscar Robertson Trophy, annually presented to the National Player of the Year. The announcement was made at a news conference today at NRG Stadium, where the Sooners (29-7) take on Villanova in the NCAA Men's Final Four on Saturday.
XAVIER'S MACK WINS 2015-16 HENRY IBA COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD
Chris Mack, whose Xavier Musketeers were unranked in preseason Top 25 polls but have climbed to No. 5 this week entering play in the Big East Conference Tournament, has been selected the winner of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Henry Iba Award for national coach of the year.
USBWA NAMES 2015-16 MEN'S ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has released its 2015-16 Men's All-District Teams, based on voting from its national membership of 900-plus. The USBWA has selected All-District Teams since the 1956-57 season, its founding year.
KEELEY WINS RISING STAR AWARD
Laura Keeley, sportswriter for the Raleigh News & Observer, has been named winner of the Rising Star Award, given annually by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association to a member under the age of 30 who shows great promise as a college basketball writer.
