MICHIGAN'S BURKE WINS 2012-13 OSCAR ROBERTSON TROPHY
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected Michigan sophomore guard Trey Burke as the winner of the 2012-13 Oscar Robertson Trophy presented by Aflac, annually presented to the National Player of the Year. The announcement was made at a news conference today at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, site of the NCAA Men's Final Four.
MIAMI'S LARRAĆAGA WINS 2012-13 HENRY IBA COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD
Miami (Fla.)'s Jim Larrañaga is the 2012-13 recipient of the Henry Iba Coach of the Year Award, presented annually to the national coach of the year by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
USBWA NAMES 2012-13 MEN'S ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has released its 2012-13 Men's All-District Teams, based on voting from its national membership of 900-plus. There are nine regions from coast to coast and a player and coach of the year are selected in each. Following is the entire region-by-region listing:
MEDCALF WINS RISING STAR AWARD
ESPN.com's Myron Medcalf was named the fourth recipient of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Rising Star Award, given annually to a member who is under the age of 30 and has shown great promise as a college basketball writer.
