USBWA SELECTS NORTH CAROLINA'S HANSBROUGH AS PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Tyler Hansbrough, North Carolina's 6-9 junior All-American from Poplar Bluff, Mo., has been chosen winner of the Oscar Robertson Trophy by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association as the nation's top college basketball player for the 2007-08 season.
USBWA ANNOUNCES 2007-08 WOMEN'S HONORS
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced today its 2007-08 women's postseason honors. For the second straight season, Tennessee's Candace Parker is the association's National Player of the Year, while Connecticut's Geno Auriemma is the USBWA Coach of the Year for the third time in his career. Connecticut's Maya Moore is the USBWA's Freshman of the Year.

LSU-Shreveport basketball player Josh Porter, considered a walking miracle after returning to play for the Pilots this season following a life-threatening neck injury he sustained in a game the previous season, has been selected winner of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Most Courageous Award.
