UTAH'S BOGUT NAMED WINNER OF 2005 OSCAR ROBERTSON TROPHY

Utah sophomore center Andrew Bogut was named the winner of the 2005 Oscar Robertson Trophy as the national player of the year at a breakfast Friday at the Missouri Athletic Club.

KEADY, HENSON TO BE HONORED AT USBWA AWARDS BREAKFAST

Retiring coaches Gene Keady of Purdue and Lou Henson of New Mexico State will join Illinois head coach Bruce Weber in being honored by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association at a breakfast at the downtown Missouri Athletic Club on April 1 to announce the national college basketball player of the year.

USBWA ANNOUNCES 2004-05 WOMEN'S HONORS

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced today its 2004-05 women's postseason honors. LSU's Seimone Augustus and Pokey Chatman are the association's National Player and Coach of the Year. It's the seventh time since the USBWA started naming both a coach and player of the year in 1989-90 that both honorees have come from the same school.

ILLINOIS' WEBER IS 2005 HENRY IBA AWARD WINNER

Illinois' Bruce Weber has been named winner of the 2005 Henry Iba Award, presented annually by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association to the national college basketball coach of the year.

USBWA NAMES 2005 ALL-AMERICANS

The United States Basketball Writers Association announced today two five-man men's All-America teams for 2005.

USBWA NAMES 2004-05 MEN'S ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) has released its 2004-05 Men's All-District Teams, based on voting from its national membership. There are nine regions from coast to coast and a player and coach of the year are selected in each. Following is the entire region-by-region listing:

Katha Quinn Award winner Steve Kirschner, the North Carolina sports information director, is widely known for his efforts to help the media cover one of the nation's most high-profile programs.

THREE TO BE ADDED TO U.S. BASKETBALL WRITERS HALL OF FAME

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected Frank Burlison of the Long Beach Press-TelegramMalcolm Moran of USA Today and Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald-Leader to the organization's Hall of Fame. Induction ceremonies for the three will be April 4 in St. Louis during the NCAA Final Four.

Three backcourt mates from Illinois and teammates from both Duke and North Carolina headline the list of 16 finalists for the 2005 Oscar Robertson Trophy, the player of the year award presented by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

DYKSTRA TO BE PRESENTED WITH USBWA'S MOST COURAGEOUS AWARD

Grant Dykstra, who transformed himself into an all-around college basketball player at Western Washington University despite having partial use of his right arm due to a childhood accident, has been selected to receive the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Most Courageous Award for 2005.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Oscar Robertson Trophy, awarded annually to the national college basketball player of the year, will be presented during the NCAA Final Four weekend at a breakfast April 1 at the Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis.
