MYER, RYAN ARE USBWA DIVISION II NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

INDIANAPOLIS (USBWA) – Brandon Myer of the University of Minnesota Duluth (Duluth, Minn.) and Shannon Ryan of Saint Anselm College (Manchester, N.H.) were named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division II National Players of the Week for the week ending February 23.

Myer, a senior forward, became UMD's all-time leading scorer in the Bulldogs' regular-season finale last week, and he claimed his first Division II National Player of the Week honor of the season after averaging 42.0 points and 15.0 rebounds in a split of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games last week. Myer has scored 40-plus points with double-digit rebounds in three consecutive games.

Myer notched back-to-back games last week with at least 40 points and double-digit rebounds, leading UMD to a 90-84 overtime win at Minnesota-Crookston with 44 points and 13 rebounds, and he scored 40 points with 17 rebounds in the Bulldogs' 83-76 defeat at Bemidji State. His career scoring total now stands at 1,967 points heading into the NSIC Tournament, which starts on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

For the week, Myer shot 65 percent (30-for-46) from the field, including 47 percent (8-for-17) on three-pointers, and he sank 16-of-18 free throws (89 percent).
