Bob Holt's name added to FWAA's Lifetime Achievement Award

The Football Writers Association of America will honor Bob Holt – who died on Dec. 4, 2024 – by putting his name on our annual Lifetime Achievement Award.

FWAA, Goodyear Cotton Bowl unveil 2022 All-America Team

The 2022 Football Writers Association of America All-America Team, presented in partnership with the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, is headlined by nine first-teamers from the four teams competing in the College Football Playoff, three repeat All-Americans and a record 16 total selections from the Big Ten Conference. There are 19 schools represented from six Football Bowl Subdivision conferences on the first team and 34 different schools and eight conferences plus an Independent included on the overall 54-man team.

The Arkansas Razorbacks jumped out to a 16-0 halftime lead and kept No. 15 Texas at bay in a decisive 40-21 win in Fayetteville, the Hogs' first home win over a ranked non-conference opponent since 2008. For moving to 2-0 on the season for the first time since 2016 with a win over its longtime and soon-to-be SEC rival, the Razorbacks have earned the Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week honor for games of the weekend of Sept. 11, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.

Legendary sportswriter Orville Henry died Saturday night at his home in Malvern, Ark., of pancreatic cancer. Mr. Henry was the sports editor for the Arkansas Gazette for 46 years and later was a columnist for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the Stephens Media Group (including The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas).
