ANGELO STATE TOPS NCBWA DIVISION II POLL

DALLAS (NCBWA) Despite having its perfect season derailed with a home loss to West Texas A&M on Saturday, Angelo State still reigned supreme in Wednesday·s edition of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25. The Rams retained all 19 first-place votes in the ranking, and actually increased their lead over the remainder of the nation·s top-25 teams.

The season-opening win streak for the Rams had reached 16 games before an 8-2 setback in the back half of a Saturday doubleheader with West Texas A&M. The nations top-scoring offense was limited to just six hits in that outing, before Angelo State rebounded on Sunday with a series-clinching win in extra innings against the Buffs.

Barry, Dixie State and Nova Southeastern all reentered the Top 25 after short absences, while Central Oklahoma, Concordia-Irvine and Davenport made their season debut in the national rankings.
