DELTA STATE TOPS NCBWA DIVISION II POLL

DALLAS (NCBWA) A near-perfect week on the diamond has helped Delta State retain its position at the top of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25 for the third-straight week, but Colorado Mesa stretched its win streak out to six this week and continues to close the gap on the top spot.

The Mavericks (16-2) reeled off four-straight victories to pick up five more first-place votes this week, but the Statesmen picked up the other 14 first-place votes to maintain their perch. Five new teams entered the NCBWA Division II Top 25 this week, including Catawba (No. 18), Missouri Southern (No. T19) and Dixie State (No. 22) who returned to the national rankings after short absences.

Newberry (No. 24) is in the national rankings for the first time since March 1, 2016 (Week 3) after posting a trio of wins last week, including a series victory at Coker. Ashland (No. 25) returns to the NCBWA Top 25 for the first time since April 25, 2015 (Week 10) thanks to five wins amid its tour through the southeast.
