NCBWA NAMES DIVISION IINATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its seventh weekly NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards of the 2015 season for the week ending on March 29. Colorado Mesa·s senior catcher Austin Willingford is the National Hitter of the Week while Missouri Southern sophomore righty Sean Goostree is the National Pitcher of the Week.

Wallingford (Pueblo, Colo.) hit .733 (11-for-15) with ten runs scored and five home runs in the Mavericks series with Adams State. He slugged 1.933 and also had a double and a triple with 10 RBIs. In game two, he belted two home runs.

Goostree (Wheaton, Mo.) threw the 8th no-hitter in MSSU history this week when he blanked Pittsburg State 1-0 in a mid-week game. The sophomore faced just four batters over the minimum. He struck out eight and walked none. The more impressive part to this no-hitter was the fact that Goostree sat on the bench for 1:07 of a rain delay in the third inning before he went back out to finish the game. The 6-3 sophomore pitcher is a native of Wheaton, Mo. where he competed at Wheaton High School.
