NCBWA NAMES DIVISION IIINATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

DALLAS (NCBWA) Ethan Moser of DeSales University drove in 17 runs in six games and Tyler Erickson of Castleton State College won both games of a doubleheader, earning them the NCAA Division III National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week respectively for the week of April 16-22 as voted on by a panel of D-III members of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.


Moser, a senior outfielder from Barto, Pa., was outstanding last week,
leading the Bulldogs to a 5-1 record by batting .560 (14-for-25) with team-highs
in runs scored (10), doubles (4), home runs (3), and RBIs (17). He had a
slugging percentage of 1.080 for the week, had at least one hit in all six
games, and recorded two or more hits in five of the six games. He began the week
with a 3-for-6 game with a home run and five RBIs vs. Rutgers-Camden, and had a
3-for-6 game with a double and four RBIs vs. Ursinus. In a three-game series
with Wilkes, he went 3-for-6 with a double, home run, and six RBIs in the first
game, then closed the week by going 4-for-6 with two doubles, a home run, fours
runs scored and two RBIs in a doubleheader. On the season, he is now batting
.413 with eight home runs and a team-high 46 RBIs. Moser was the Freedom
Conference Player of the Week.


Erickson, a senior right-hander from Naugatuck, Conn., set himself apart last
weekend by winning both ends of a crucial doubleheader against Colby-Sawyer on
Thursday. He tossed a pair of complete games, going 14.0 innings in total and
scattering nine hits over that span. He struck out seven and allowed two earned
runs in winning the opener 3-2, and was even better in the second game, giving
up just one unearned run while striking out five in a 2-1 victory. He leads
Castleton and the NEAC with a 7-2 record and owns a 2.82 ERA. Erickson was the
North Atlantic Conference / North Eastern Athletic Conference East Pitcher of
the Week.
