TULANE HEADS IN NCAA TOURNAMENT WITH NCBWA'S NO. 1 RANKING

DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association
continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the eighth year with
its 2005 weekly surveys. Weekly polls will continue each Monday through
June 28, following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb.

The Tulane Green Wave is the top seed in the 2005 NCAA Baseball
Tournament and the No. 1 team in the NCBWA poll for the fifth straight week.
The Wave takes its 50 wins into the tournament after rain forced a share
of the C-USA tournament title with TCU. Oregon State is headed to the NCAA
tournament for the first time since 1986 and the Pac-10 champs are ranked
second behind Tulane this week. Cal State Fullerton dropped to No. 3 and
Nebraska, off its Big 12 tourney title, moved up to No. 4. Texas rounds
out the top five.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college
baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of
the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates
and official votes in the Xanthus Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of
the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors the Pro-Line
Cap Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the Year, and publication
and writing contests.
