TULANE RECLAIMS TOP SPOT IN NCBWA POLL

DALLAS (NCBWA) The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association
continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the eighth year with
its 2005 weekly surveys. Weekly polls will continue each Monday through
June 28, following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb.


The Tulane Green Wave took two of three from South Florida to
get back to No. 1 in the NCBWA poll. Texas, top-ranked for four straight
weeks, dropped a Tuesday game to Texas State before winning two of three
from Missouri and fell to No. 2. Cal State Fullerton stayed hot with its
third straight three-game weekend sweep, this one over UCSB. Nebraska
moved up to a season-high No. 4 as the Big 12 sports three of the
nation's top ten teams.


Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college
baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of
the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates
and official votes in the Xanthus Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of
the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors the Pro-Line
Cap Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the Year, and publication
and writing contests.
